My venture does not have much of an unfair advantage. My pride sways me to think not many people have my level of experience and my finely-tuned ear, but I know this isn't true. Many people my age are fantastic music producers able to make high-quality music. In addition, the equipment is not unbearably expensive.
Resources:
1) A finely tuned ear: I am extremely tuned in cognitively to sounds, analyzing the qualities that make them sound the way they do and translating them into my work.
Value - Highly valuable to a company such as this. You need to have good ears for this business.
Rarity - Somewhat rare, but not too rare.
Imitability - Imitable with experience.
Substitutability - Not Substitutable.
2) MacBook Pro: A very powerful computer capable of processing large amounts of data at once, perfect for gaming or producing.
Value - Highly valuable.
Rarity - Not at all rare.
Imitability - Very imitable.
Substitutability - Very substitutable, with many other computers out there.
3) Logic Pro X: An extremely powerful, all-in-one digital audio workstation able to process audio, MIDI, and many effects.
Value - Very valuable, logic is the framework for making music.
Rarity - Not at all rare.
Imitability - Anyone can buy Logic Pro.
Substitutability - Plenty of other DAWs exist, such as FL Studio, Ableton, Pro Tools, and Cubase.
4) MXL 990 Microphone: A consumer-grade condenser microphone suitable for home recordings.
Value - $70
Rarity - Not at all rare
Imitability - Anyone can buy
Substitutability - Many better microphones out there. Very substitutable.
5) Network: I have a Gainesville network of indie musicians.
Value - Not too valuable, indie musicians in Gainesville don't often have many followers.
Rarity - Not at all rare.
Imitability - Imitable, although it may take effort.
Substitutability - Not substitutable.
6) Experience: Over 10 years of experience working on music, mixing vocals, instruments, and working with artists.
Value - Very valuable, experience is everything in this field.
Rarity - Moderately rare, not too rare.
Imitability - Imitable with time.
Substitutability - Not substitutable.
7) A home: My sweet mother lets me live at her house while in school to upkeep this "business".
Value - Very valuable.
Rarity - Not at all rare.
Imitability - Imitable.
Substitutability - Apartments, offices, studios, etc.
8) Work Ethic: Not Great
Value - Little.
Rarity - Not rare.
Imitability - Imitable.
Substitutability - Not substitutable.
9) Eyes: Working
Value - Very valuable.
Rarity - Not at all rare.
Imitability - If you can't see, it's kind of hard to see.
Substitutability - An analog mixer board with braile could work.
10) Feet: Working
Value - Valuable
Rarity - Not rare
Imitability - Imitable with prosthetics
Substitutability - Handstands? Not really substitutable.
With all of this in mind, I think my biggest asset to this company would have to be the 10 years of experience and finely tuned ear. It's more important because it has the highest value and is the most difficult and costly to imitate or substitute.

Hi Heather, this cracks me up- I loved reading about your questionable work ethic and your fully functioning eyes and feet. All kidding aside, it's good to know what you possess for strengths and where you may struggle. Yes, living and working from home with your Mom paying for living expenses is a huge advantage in terms of saving money, however, I wonder if having your own professional space would increase productivity and a sense of autonomy.
