1) Me: I am an aspiring music producer with lots of experience using digital audio workstations, and a finely tuned ear for modern music production. At the moment, I do not expect my business as a producer to be very lucrative. My hope is that through a few years of putting out music for artists, I can develop some sort of reputation and grow into a more professional business. I have lots of experience producing music of many genres, and a passion for mixing.
2) My Business: My service at the moment would be a cheap, affordable way to produce music that sounds high-quality. I would probably charge close to 20 dollars an hour. The audio would hopefully sound very professional. I would also cover quite a few genres.
3)Who: College-aged musicians/singers, as well as anyone with a low budget seeking to create music.
4) Why they care: I have lots of experience producing music that sounds professional and for a price so low, it's a bit hard to compete. This puts me in good standing with a market of musicians making not much money.
5) Core competency: I've said this before, but I believe my main strength is my decade of experience playing around with digital audio workstations. I have had a lot of time and practice to the point that I am fairly knowledgable in this field.
These all string together because more often than not, musician = not much money. Providing such a valuable service at a low cost is something many musicians surely need.
My business idea has been modified because I received valuable feedback suggesting that recording analog audio in a small-studio setup is not as difficult as I imagined, and it can captivate a much wider market.

Hi Heather,
ReplyDeleteYour current experience is similar to mine in that I am a producer with a lot of experience who is looking to start a music company. Affordability is a big part of music products, since casual hobbyists making music for fun are most likely not willing to spend thousands of dollars in order to get a good finished product at the end.
Hi Heather,
ReplyDeleteI think the experience that you have had in the music industry adds to your desire for this business idea. I also think you have done a good job determining your market and figuring out how to attract them to your business. Overall through your experiences and your desire to offer an affordable studio to create music I think your idea can be very successful among all level musicians or those seeking experience in the music industry.
